Jeep wins ‘4x4 of the year’ hat-trick
Jeep has won the top prize in three categories of the UK’s biggest on and off-road test of 4x4 vehicles.
- Jeep Patriot: winner of Budget 4x4 of the Year
- Jeep Cherokee: winner of the Mid-size 4x4 category
- Jeep Wrangler: winner of Extreme 4x4 group
Tested against 10 key buying areas on-road, off-road, comfort, safety, economy, loading, interior, styling, towing and value-for-money, 4x4 magazine reviewed 67 vehicles for the annual ‘4x4 of the Year’ award.
Put through their paces through real world testing on and off road, Jeep overcame its competitors in three key segments – Budget, Mid-size and Extreme, with its Patriot, Cherokee and Wrangler models.
Jeep Patriot: winner of Budget 4x4 of the Year
The Patriot offers customers in today’s market with a greener, more cost effective vehicle. With a VW sourced 2.0litre turbodiesel stretching fuel economy to over 42mpg and producing below average CO2 emissions, the Jeep Patriot is ideally placed to bring 4x4’s to the wider cost conscious customer.
Jeep Cherokee: winner of the Mid-size 4x4 category
The all-new Cherokee takes Jeep to a new level. Its new-look interior gives an impression of more space, with new materials and comfier seats. With more boot space and a practical top opening one piece tailgate, the new Jeep Cherokee becomes more practical for loading. The Jeep

Jeep Wrangler: winner of Extreme 4x4 group
The Jeep Wrangler came out on top as an extreme plaything and lifestyle vehicle. Rivaling the Defender for its standard specification, off-road ability and low down torque of its 2.8litre diesel engine. More comfortable and roomy than the Defender, and faster and smoother on road than the Land Rover, the Wrangler is the vehicle for the hardcore off-roader.
Dodge Journey offers impressive residual values
The new seven-seat Dodge will continue to offer value for money long after it has been driven off the forecourt, according to EurotaxGlass’s – publisher of the Glass’s Guide – the vehicle valuation guide.
As well as undercutting rivals on price, experts predict that the Dodge Journey has strong residual values and will be worth an impressive 41% of it’s purchase price over a three year time period and 60,000miles.
The Dodge Journey is the marque’s first MPV offering within the UK. Combining both style and practicality, the Dodge Journey incorporates bold SUV-styling as well as high levels of specification and functionality expected of an MPV. Chrysler celebrates 25 years of the worlds's first and favourite MPV
This year Chrysler has celebrated 25 years of MPV innovation, on-going development and leadership since it launched the world's first MPV in 1983.
The launch of the Chrysler MPV on 2nd November 1983 created an all-new vehicle segment which became a cultural icon throughout North America in the 1980s and upon its introduction to European markets in 1987. In 1993 with the introduction of right hand drive versions, the Chrysler MPV made its debut in the UK.
In March 2008, 25 years on, the fifth generation of Chrysler MPVs – the Grand Voyager, was launched. This encapsulated more than 65 MPV first features, with more than 25 years of development. The lastest generation offers more than 35 new or improved features including:

Off-Road Event is a great success
Customers and guests were able to test drive Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles off-road at Dutton Forshaw’s annual event at True Grip off-road track, Maypole Road, North Hoath, Kent in August.
The new Dodge Journey and new Jeep Cherokee were among the vehicles that were driven on the day.

Dutton Forshaw is ‘At Home in the Wild’ at Kent’s Port Lympne Animal Park
Dutton Forshaw Canterbury’s sponsorship of local animal Park Port Lympne means the dealership is just like the all-new Jeep Cherokee – ‘At Home in the Wild’!
And the new Cherokee is on display at the park near Hythe so visitors can see another fine specimen in its ‘natural’ habitat.

Lympne Wild Animal Parks were set up by the late John Aspinall with the
aim of protecting and breeding rare and endangered species and
returning to safe areas in their native homeland. World leaders in
conservation the Parks have so far returned to the wild Przewalski's
horses, black rhino, Sumatran rhino, Cape buffalo, ocelots, pythons and
gorillas.

Modern American Cars to make their 'Marque' at Rally...
A taste of modern Americana awaits visitors to this year’s ‘Rally of the Giants 2008’ at Knebworth Park courtesy of local Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge dealer Lookers Hatfield Chrysler Group.
Some of the very best that today’s Stateside motoring can offer the discerning driver will be on view at the dealership’s stand at the extravaganza for lovers of older American cars on Sunday 27th July, which is organised by the Pre’50 American Auto Club.
Lookers Hatfield Chrysler Group’s stand highlights will include the all-new Chrysler Grand Voyager which comes with a brand new exterior and interior design plus an updated range of petrol and diesel engines.
Priced from £26,000, the Grand Voyager is now available at the dealership with six-speed automatic transmission and either a 3.8-litre V6 engine or a 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine. Three equipment levels – LX, Touring and Limited – are available.
From Jeep, the new 2008 Grand Cherokee will be one of the cars taking centre stage over the weekend on the stand. Prices for this class-leading 4x4 start from £26,995 and the majority of models are powered by a smooth and refined 3.0CRD diesel engine. The range-topping SRT-8 version comes with a 6.1-litre HEMI V8 petrol power plant.
Other Jeep models appearing at the show, or are currently available at the dealership, include the Compass, Wrangler, Cherokee and Patriot.
Meanwhile from Dodge, American muscle-car inspired styling can be found in the Avenger saloon and Nitro SUV, while those still wanting to stand out from the crowd might consider the Caliber hatchback.

More than 500 people enjoyed some 'California Dreaming' and Hollywood style glitz at our all-American event at Hatfield House.

Lookers Hatfield Chrysler Group has appointed a new sales manager – Jay Egilmez.
However, customers will recognise Jay as a familiar face as he was previously a senior sales specialist at the Great North Road showroom.
And his promotion coincides with that of Mark Jenner who swaps his Franchise Manager position and becomes General Manager.
New sales staff will be joining the expanding Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge team and will work alongside Sales Specialist Alastair Parnell and Used Car Specialist Mike Smith among others.
Jay said: “These are very exciting times for our three famous American marques because of such a diverse and interesting range of cars now taking their place in our showroom.
“And it’s thanks to these new arrivals that we’ve been able to expand our workforce. Who knows, with more models set to arrive, we could be looking to grow even further.”
